Our Mission & Vision

Good Samaritan Home’s Mission is to reduce housing insecurity in Boise by providing permanent housing, meals, and community to low-income adults.

Our Vision is to end homelessness in the Treasure Valley and enhance health and stability for all. We at GSH believe every person should have an opportunity to fulfill their basic needs regardless of limitations, disadvantages, trauma, or lack of opportunity.

When each person’s needs are met, we understand and recognize the enhancement of our community through equity, resilience, and economic opportunity. Good Samaritan Home does not and shall never discriminate based on race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.

The Good Samaritan Home Way

These are values that we commit ourselves to:

Be Humble.

Life is full of twists and turns, and there is always more to learn. instead of being experts, we should view people and situations as opportunities to grow. As humans, we all make mistakes at some point. The key is to take accountability for them so we can learn from them and continue to develop.

Keep taking care of yourself to better help others.

Ending homelessness is a long-term process, not a quick fix. Every member of the team must be committed to improving their well-being whether that’s restoring or enhancing it. This is not an option but a necessity to achieve our goals.

Stay mission-focused.

Our mission is to facilitate access to housing, a fundamental human right. We remain steadfast in our commitment, disregarding any divergences that may arise.

Be reliable and transparent.

We strongly believe in being authentic in both our professional and personal interactions and making use of our resources. Our team strives to remain solution-oriented and accountable at all times.

Build each other up.

Our Team is like a group of cheerleaders always ready to collaborate and encourage each other, which fosters a culture of fun and joy. We firmly believe that tackling homelessness requires a community that embraces diversity and shares life experiences. Only then can we work together to find the most effective solutions.

Why Donate?

Once our residents have a stable place to call home, our interventions and supports like social work and counseling become more effective. How do we know? Studies have found that housing people first may reduce costs by shortening hospital stays, residential substance abuse programs, nursing homes, and prisons.
